Nice Kicks 2008 Kixpy's Awards Recap

Last night, Nice Kicks teamed up with ObsessiveSneakerDisorder to bring the first ever live sneaker awards ceremony, The Nice Kicks 2008 Kixpy’s Award Show. With some serious sneakerhead celebrities in attendance, the red carpet was so full of heat it took some of the big names a while to make their way in to the show. Some “1 of Nothing” kicks, along with some upcoming All Star exclusives were seen, even some kicks that “allegedly” changed color as one of the guests crossed the International Dateline to make it to the show.

Once the red carpet emptied and the show began, some big surprises took place! As with as with most awards shows there was more controversy than a Jerry Springer Episode. The Jordan categories saw some OG colorways battle it out, along with some serious heat in the Best Collab, and Best Signature Shoe categories. While the Air Force 1 of the Year award was…well you’ll just have to read about it. Thankfully there was no e-stabbings or too much violence, but you can bet we’ll be stepping up the security for next years show.

Nike SB Dunk Low “Lobster”

The Best Skate Shoe of 2008 goes to the Nike SB Dunk Low “Lobster” editions. For their first collab with Nike SB, the Crew at Concepts in Boston went all out on the packaging and prep work of the Lobster Dunks, they were “Straight Butter” from the laces all the way down to the rubber band. Most definitely a Fresh Catch, along with the gear that dropped with it.

    i was surprised to see the strapped AJ1 win, until i saw the competition. looking back, 2008 had some garbage jordan retroes with the exception of the CDPs

    Slam Jams deserved some wins… Black slam jams surpassed other forces this year by sooo much to me. But there were some others (most of them) that deserved a win over the ?uests. Black stash his….. LT 1worlds… 112 forces…

    Glad my second pick won best series though. Thats a close one to me, because the 112 pack was all around better than slam jams. Red/black slam jams were amazing, but yellow patent leather just didnt work for me, and I always have a problem with grey patent leather.

    Eusebio, I hear that. Nazar eyes deserved a win… I forgot what category they were in but if I remember right they were easily the best imo, only shoes I liked more than those this year were the black slam jams.

    wasn’t best movie inspired kicks one of the things we could vote for?? i don’t see a winner for that… i remember seein the skate or dies, freddies, and thrashins on the list of choices though

    I agree 100% with page 2 about the carmines being the best Air jordan this year period.. 11s dont stand a chance against the Carmines but there both nice. We didnt win the CDP package but at least they prove to have one this 1….

    #4: well, the categories and the nominees are a bit biased towards Nike (THREE categories devoted to Jordan, one category devoted to AF1), so it’s not surprising that the winners are all Nikes. But you gotta admit, it’s REALLY HOT over there in Beaverton.

    Black Friday AF1 was overhyped, and for that, it got 3rd place in collabs. IMO there were nicer collabs that got fewer votes.

    I think that just further demonstrates the power of the Nike and Jordan brand. We definitely had nominees from virtually every brand, but the People have spoken.

    ?uestloves are horrific in person…..coulda got em at retail thru a hook-up at a store that’s got em in a glass case selling for $1200, and passed…..ugly, ugly, ugly…..dunno how they won that category.
