If you have ever heard of Powell Peralta, Bones or Santa Cruz then you might want to keep reading for a little history lesson. Steve Olson was one of the skateboarders that laid the foundation for these companies. He was a sponsored rider for these companies before most of you were born. In fact he was essentially, a sponsored rider for Powell Peralta back before the company was even formed!
Now for a current events lesson, Steve Olson has teamed with legendary skate shoe company Vans for a couple of releases that are available now at Caliroots. Nowadays, even popular hip-hop artists like Pharrell and Lupe Fiasco have been seen sporting Independent shirts. Over 25 years ago they started making their “Built to Grind” Trucks with a little testing help from a hard-core punk rock skater nicknamed “Bulky”. You guessed it “Bulky” was Steve Olson’s nickname back in the day. He admits he thinks it’s the stupidest nickname he has ever heard, but what’s that matter when you are laying the foundation for skateboarding.     i hate converse, never owned a pair, never will. i WILL however buy these, because i support vans and i’m sure these are way better quality than converse
