After twelve years of sitting on the sidelines and closets, the Nike Air Penny II is back in the game. The first colorway, Black/Varsity Royal-White, has started hitting doors ahead of its October launch with a nationwide release at Foot Locker doors of September 27th. Coming the following month in November is the White based colorway that Penny Hardaway wore in 1997 NBA All-Star Game.Along with the original colors, the Nike Air Penny II retros sport an original box price of $140. Heel and forefoot Air as well as a midfoot carbon fiber shank, these are as ready for the court as they were more than a decade ago. Like the Air Jordan line, the Penny series had one of the most creative advertising campaigns put together by none other than Weiden + Kennedy. Lil Penny, the half-pint, trash-talking sidekick appeared in a series of commercials and print ads that promoted the Penny line including the Nike Air Penny II. Rewind 12 years and check out these videos after the jump as well as detailed shots of both of the retro Penny IIs due out this fall. |
