Lately, Nike has been doing alot of limited edition sneakers with the Air Max 90 rather than the usual suspects, the Air Force Ones and the Dunks. This was a great thing for many Air Max collectors since the Air Max 90 is a favorite amongst most.
A special edition HUF Air Max 90 was released only to super exclusive shops. This was not the first shoe that HUF and Nike colaborated on and nor was it part of the “HUFquake” pack, but the shoes thought they were. The problem with the shoes is that the paint on the midsoles crack only after light usage. We heard about the problems, but thanks to chiu_kee, we got photos.
This cracking problem was not only on the HUF Air Max 90s also on the “Canadian Exclusive” Steve Nash Air Max 90s. These were the first shoe Nike colaborated with Steve Nash on and turned out to be a really nice sneaker. Unfortunately, the midsoles crack on these as well. Worst of all, the color underneith is a light lime green. This makes it visible to virtually anyone walking by and makes the shoes look awful.
Currently, there are no Nike recalls that we know of. Sadly, due to the limited numbers and exclusivity of these Air Max 90s, many collectors paid BIG bucks and often over retail. Best word of advise for now is to pass on these shoes if you were considering buying them unless Nike re-releases them with the cracking problem fixed. Be sure to check out the 13 detailed pics we have showing the cracking Air Max 90s.
